Low Energy Home in Yachats, Oregon
Construction - Summer 2014
Inspired by the local trail network, Intersect House connects to the path leading to the nearby town in the south and to the ocean in the west. The intersection of the greenhouse provides vertical circulation to the second floor and up to the trail network beyond. Locating the stairs in the greenhouse provides protection from the rain while saving valuable interior square footage for living space.
The first floor is designed to be a utilitarian work space for an art/sewing studio. The central living space on the second floor allows for generous entertaining possibilities and separates the guest and master bedrooms toward the beautiful forest views. Designed to be air tight, pressure tested, and super insulated, the house will utilize a Heat Recovery Ventilator to capture heat and transfer it to the incoming fresh air.
